March Newsletter

March is Missions Month at Landmark.  This month we will celebrate and remember the gospel of Jesus Christ!  It’s good news for all humanity that Christ loved the world and gave Himself a ransom for sin!  Paul said the gospel is “the power of God unto salvation.

From my recliner in the great room early Monday morning, I opened my eyes to check the time in hopes that pain control meds were close!  Knee replacement surgery is no joke!  After repositioning my leg and ice bags, I noticed the full moon shining brightly through our window.  It was as if someone had turned on the house lights as the moon beams filled the windowpane.

It wasn’t just the pain of surgery that had awakened me and I quickly thanked the Holy Spirit for this special moment of inspiration.  The moon is God’s great gift in creation.  This “lesser light” has been doing its assignment since day 2 of creation.  The moon has no light of its own, but reflects the light of the sun.  What an example for us; we have no light of our own, but because the light of the world, Jesus, took residence in us, we reflect that light into the dark night of lost humanity.

It is our mission to let our light shine so that men can see the light and glorify our Father in heaven.  It might not be about what we are doing as much as it is about what others are seeing.  Whose dark night are you shining into?  There is plenty of darkness in need of the light of hope, healing and salvation.  The light shines through us.

I have thanked God several times for my full moon experience.  Jesus showed up and used moon beams to speak blessing into my life.  Glad I could pass it on.  During March, let’s increase our influence locally and globally to shine/reflect the light of the gospel into the vast darkness of the world.

Elaine and I thank everyone for the calls, cards, food, and prayers.  Looking forward to seeing you Sunday.  I’ll be preaching my favorite missions text from Acts 16:25, “and the prisoners heard them.
